Samos became separated from the mainland following enormous geological upheavals. According to the myth it was the birth place of goddess Hera. By being colonized by the Ionians around the first millennium BC, it was inhabited by Carians and Pelasgians. Samos knew its greatest glory in the 6th century BC. Subsequently it was dominated by the Persians during the Persian Wars, later becoming a member of the Athenian Confederacy.
Early departure from the hotel and drive to Kusadasi to catch the ferry to Samos. The ferry takes about 2 hours.
Our guide meets the clients on arrival and gives information about the tour program. The clients are free to change money and for the other needs between 10:00 - 11:00 hrs. The tour starts at 11:00 hrs by departing from Samos Town through Mytilini Village to the first stop at Hora Village. Here the clients visit Agia Triada Monastery then continue to Pythagorion; is the birthplace of Pythagoras, the ancient mathematician and of Epicurus, the ancient philosopher, also Hera the wife of Zeus of the panthean of Greek God, where there are old Roman baths and Eupalinion Tunnel to be visited; called the "two mounthed tunnel" by Herodotus, is one of the most significant technical achievements of Greek antiquity. After 2 hrs of break for lunch and shopping the tour continues by departing for Samos Town. At the entrance of the town the clients leave the bus and walk through the old town called Vathy with the guide to the harbor where the boat leaves for Kusadasi.
Drive back to Izmir, transfer to the hotel.
